Planning, Planning, and Planning.

Long time no post right? Things have been crazy for us these last few months. We went on an trip to Jamaica, Possum Kingdom, THUNDERING UP ;) and have been totally MIA most weekends.

You cant leave a thunder game without jumping with the Cox bubble! Me and the 4 year olds...

Update on the house:
We finally have walls and it looks like a REAL place! It is so crazy how much different it looks when the walls go up. It has been so much fun for us to pick out everything we want. What I have learned about building/designing a house:

1. It is absolutely impossible to make people understand that not eveerryyyonne is traditional and likes brown, brown and more brown. I have had to make an extra effort at places to find a different style. I like my fixtures and kitchen more contemporary which is very hard to come by around here. Oklahoma City is very french country/traditional...which is BEAUTIFUL but just not us.

Here are some sneak peeks into our selections:
I made a joke to somebody that I would have no lights in the rest of the house if I could have these in the kitchen. I thought they would TOTALLY be out of our price range but we found some that were! We are doing bronze industrial pendants over the island. These are going to be my favorite part of the house I already know it!
Again, this is not a picture of our kitchen yet. But we decided on white subway tile with gray grout! I am so excited about this too. Trey was laughing at how obsessed I was with getting the kitchen right. I feel like the kitchen is your statement room of the house.

I have had really great luck at Ballard Designs lately. I have gotten our dining room fixture among a few other things. If you are thinking about re-doing a room in your house or building. Check them out! They really reward you too. We have gotten so many gift cards in the mail after ordering something from them!

Update soon on cabinets and paint. Its rollin' quick now! :)

Mini vacation...Hey! Why not?!

You know that feeling that you just need to "get away!!"...I totally got that feeling last week. Sometimes a change of scenery can be just the perfect "re-boot" for the week or month ahead! Friday afternoon Trey and myself were trying to come up with ideas that would be fun...the best idea was a cabin retreat that we could bring our dog child Milly! We had such a great time being outside in the perfect spring time weather, sitting in our deck hot tub and just having some good R & R away from it all! It was refreshing to not have much cell service or Internet.

This was the living room view of our little cabin

When we drove up I saw this heart in the tree! Such a cute surprise!

The creek in the back

I was not too sure how Milly would do in "outdoors". Shes an inside diva who just uses outside as her "bathroom" if you will..

She really kept up the whole time on our walks

and was not kidding around in the creek. She went right in and wanted to swim! She loved it.

Of course we ended the day with some Big Bang Theory.
So all you "wanna get away" people out there...do it!! I promise its fun to remove yourself from your little box for even just a few days!

Sneak peak into our living room

Trey and I went by the lot last week and they finally have started to break ground. This weekend they were laying pipes and then the walls will go up. Crazy to think we will be fully moved in by our first wedding anniversary. It has been so fun to start buying furniture and accessories for our new home! I have always loved home design (that's why I fell in love with Pinterest ;) ) and we now get to pick out our own things for our place! I knew I always had a thing for East coast style. I struggle with the right word to call my home style..I guess you could say Nantucket/Cape Cod mixed with fresh. I know it's not close or near where I live but I have a love of all things white and striped. Therefore our living room will be all of those things! I knew I wanted soft blues, whites and a comfy large sectional. We have most of these things already ordered and we are stalking Pottery Barn to wait until the console table goes on sale. Here is a sneak peak of our future living room!

Who doesn't love LOVE?

First of all, CONGRATS to our precious friends Stephanie and Stuart. They got engaged tonight and I feel SO blessed we were able to be a part of it. They have become such great friends and I love being part of the memory. Everything went off perfect and was a surprise (which is almost crazy because all girls somewhat "know") but she was so surprised!! The plan went as follows..

Stuart told her he had something great happen at work today that called for a celebration. He took her to one of the most nice restaurants in Oklahoma City and they had a nice dinner. While they were at dinner, the little elves (Trey and I) went over and set everything up..some funny things happened in that process.

1) Anybody who knows my personality knows I was FREAKING OUT about it going perfectly. I was worried we were going to get caught, something was going to fall, they would see us drive off or we would have to hide in the bushes..Trey was wishing I wasnt a little helper at that point....
2) Stuart sent a joke text message that he was five minutes out and Trey and I scrambled out the house, almost set off the alarm, went out the wrong door...
3) Whole foods ran out of flowers so I sweet talked the Customer Service desk for their arrangement before we went over for champagne...

He just bought a house a few weeks ago and I think its so special he wanted to come back and do it there! That will be their first home together and what memories to have gotten engaged in that same house! They got to the house and he blindfolded her...took her through the house to this:
Right after we came over for champagne and have a few girl screams!!! She was so excited it made me tear up. Don't we all love love?! I think I love love more now that I am married, and I know I will more as time goes on. Marriage suddenly becomes a new form of love and engagements are all the more special to me now. You are a new family and this is your buddy for life. Youre in it forever through thick and thin.

Trey was really embarassed at how giddy I was at all the memories happening! I had to get a picture with the finished project! So impressed Stuart!
Before we left I had to leave a girl with some flowers and wedding books/magazines to look at as her mind races all night of her wedding day..
What a fun night! And if you ever need some love elves you know who to call! ;)

Earth shakin' lessons and a new year!

O the joys of Oklahoma! As you all already know we've had many large earthquakes in the past two weeks. I have to say it's really the most strange feeling. Each time I just laugh because my naive self can't believe this stuff actually happens...I've been sheltered from natural disasters in Texas! Of course right when it happens you want to call everyone in your phone and say "I was just in a earthquake!!!!!!...and we did :)

Yesterday was my birthday! I felt very special yesterday. I am blessed beyond measure by all my friends. Another reason I felt extra special yesterday was my twenty first year came to a close...my twenty first year was very tough at times and very happy at times! Here are some lessons/ things I did in my twenty first year:

1. Married the love of my life. Trey and I have been together 8 years and I have been in love with the boy ever since! He's my best friend, my calm, the answers to my prayers, his family is the family I've dreamed of, he's my perfect future, he is my everything. I adore him more than he or anyone could know and this past year my dreams came true as his wife and joining the Horkey family.

2. My relationships with my new family. Kathy has been an angel to me. I've gained a perfect mom and friend in her. Who can say they text their mother in law every day?! I'm so blessed to have that minority. Were much more alike than I knew and this year I have needed her more than she knows!
Precious Ashley- this year I gained a sister that is so sweet and wise. Ashleys positivity is an inspiration to me.
The Harps- I've gained two sisters I always wanted! This family makes me beam every time I'm around them! Sometimes I forget were family and think of them as life friends...and we will be!

3. I've learned alot about myself. I'm stronger than I thought. This past year I have overcome things I'm shocked I have! I have learned forgiveness is peace...forgiveness is for yourself; not the other person. I've learned that there's some things you can't change. The past cannot be different, no matter how much you think it should be. God gave me this life because I was strong enough to live it.

4. My fun wedding! My bachlorette party, showers, parties and wedding were some of the best times of my life. The pictures make me tear up! I grew so close to my friends and I took so much joy in watching our friends and family enjoy in those times! To my precious MeMe and Dale I couldn't be more grateful.

5. Braching out! Moving to Oklahoma City has been so great for us. A new start is exactly what I needed! We have met friends here that are great and it feels like we've known each other forever. Oklahoma city has fit us well!

Twenty one was a year to remember!! I am excited to be 22.

Wreck em!

What a game! I am not going to lie...yesterday when I was putting on my new red pants and adding black I was not thinking my team was going to be even close to pulling it through. I figured walking through the streets of Norman with our friends and the Sooner fans seeing our outfits we would be made fun of. We we're at first but WRECCKKKK EMM!!!

As you all know the game had a rain delay. We sat underneath the stadium for a good 2 hours but we had some great entertainment. We met up with our family friends the Aycocks and sat down on a wall next to a phone outlet. Well of course a concession stand man comes by and is selling waters and Cokes next to us....
1.Bless his heart
2. HOLY CRACK! this video speaks for itself :)

hilarious.

Besides the game there have been some fun things going on in our little world! My work had a fashion show for United Way! It was so fun to go with some new girls that have become great friends at work. The clothes were for sure out of my price range (Rachel Zoe, Valentino, Marc Jacobs, etc.) but it was so fun to look! There was free champagne, cake balls, shrimp cocktail galore and Black eyed peas blaring! Perfect Thursday night pick me up!

We recently went to some of our new friends house in Edmond. Such beautiful houses and developments out there! At the dinner party there was a special little guest...Lucy! She is a baby golden lab and stole my heart! Any dog steals my heart (as you all know my little princess Milly) but she was so sweet and cuddly!

Little Lucy:

So far Oklahoma has treated us very well and I guess we brought a little Lubbock luck to Norman.......just sayin! ;) Hope you all have a great Sunday!

blog slackin' and new finds!

I am SO behind on posting to the blog! There have been many changes and shifts in this household! Back at the end of August I was so excited to be offered a job at Ernst and Young! I would be doing tax processing and I thought it would be such a great start into "big girl world" because I knew nothing about taxes or accounting and maybe I could pick up some things on the way! I started and met so many sweet people. After many long 18 hour days and 1:30 am nights at the office..the job proved to be too much for us. Being newly married and coming home to Trey already asleep and me being exhausted every single day was just not a good fit! I decided to just keep my eyes open and my heart open if another opportunity came along....sure enough, it did!! I got a call from Chesapeake Energy the week of the 15th (for those of you who know accounting and tax that's the week of the deadline which was SUPER busy and exhausting) asking for an interview! I was beyond excited and felt like it was such a God send after I already came to the realization that this current job was just not working. I went into the interview on a Friday and got the call Monday for the offer! Telling Ernst and Young was hard and I felt like a quitter, but sometimes you just have to do whats best for you and not be worried about what people think. After my two weeks were up there I started Chesapeake this past Monday! I am going to love it. So many great benefits, people and such a fun atmosphere! I am getting my new schedule set up because now I have all these fun class options at lunch (Pilates, Zumba, body pump, yoga, maybe a dip in the Olympic size pool?) We will see, maybe this winter I will have a rockin' bod!

Besides all of our job changes things have been fun around here! Married life is such a blast! I laugh more than I've ever laughed, smiled more than I've ever smiled and dreamed more than I've ever dreamed! Of course Milly still runs this house...shes my baby girl!

We went to our first OU game this past weekend thanks to our friends Stuart and Stephanie!
They gave us free tickets that were awesome! Fun atmosphere and awesome football...but we are still raiders!

Fall is in the air and I feel it! I LOVE fall. Such a cozy feeling! We have already had pumpkin bread, burned Pumpkin spice candles everyday and I am loving all the decorating ideas on Pinterest (my bad obsession). So many cute clothes for fall coming out too! I am loving leopard, capes, orange and skinny pants lately. Here are my favorite finds for this fall:

Pinned Image
My Tory Burch Eddie flats. These are SO comfy and are perfect for just about any outfit! I wear them almost everyday and they jazz up solids and are perfect for fall!

Pinned Image
I love this Cassia jacket from Anthropologie! With skinny jeans and boots it will be great for fall weather!

So heres to fun shopping, football and new jobs! Fall is officially in the air!
